SPOILERS: Peaky Blinders left the Shelby clan in a precarious position in the season 5 finale – is season 6 going to kick off with a big character death?
It’s been a bloody and twisty season of BBC One gangster drama Peaky Blinders , with Tommy Shelby ( Cillian Murphy ) facing continued threats to his rule and his empire from threats both internal and external.
The finale saw his plot to assassinate the villainous Sir Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) fail miserably as his proposed assassin Barney (Cosmo Jarvis) was gunned downed himself, while ally Aberama Gold ( Aidan Gillen ) was stabbed before he could kill nemesis Jimmy McGavern (Brian Gleeson).
With the plan being exposed to Mosley’s side before it could be enacted, the question of who leaked the information has become very important.
The episode suggests that it is likely young and impetuous Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton) who is to blame, having told the plan to singer and new addition to the gang Billy Grade (Emmett J. Scanlan), who later disappears.
Did Finn leak the plan and what does that mean for him in season six?
Earlier in the episode, Finn’s older brother Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) warned Finn about his reckless behaviour and lack of caution in trusting others.
Arthur said to Finn of being too trusting with Billy: “It’s your own life you’re risking.”
Could Finn be at risk of retribution from his brothers, or could he be about to make even more reckless mistakes?
